The first question they will ask is which gearbox do you have as the C4 Picasso was fitted with either a proper auto box, or a piloted semi-automatic EGS box. The full auto box was only fitted to 2.0 diesels, but there was also an EGS version. I had one of those. The 1.6 diesel is only fitted with the EGS box (manual lso available). Came up with "gearbox fault" and that error code 1704 - gear selector coherence fault. Had trouble selecting between 'R', 'N', 'A1', 'M'. When trying to start even in 'N' and foot on brake to start - it would often STILL give the select 'N' and put foot on brake message - so wouldn't start. Looking on this site the U1113 code means there is a problem with the communcation between the automatic gearbox and the ABS( ESP). Does anyone have any ideas where to start looking? The automatic handbrake is locked on and my guess is the place to start is the electrical connections/wiring and maybe the ABS. A burning smell in a car is never a good sign, so when it comes to the gearbox, a burning smell can be the result of transmission fluid overheating. If the fluid system fails, then other parts of the system will suffer as a result. Transmission fluid acts as lubricant and a cooling agent for the moving parts of a transmission. As they are in I'm looking for advice / warnings / reassurance on the semi-automatic Berlingo! We are keen to get a used Multispace (our budget seems to point us to the 2015 to 2017 versions) which, as you likely know, has the ETG6 semi-auto gearbox. However, we are hearing warnings (from other forums, people we know) about the unreliability of the gearbox. The gearbox has been removed at the garage, they have said there are metal bits within the oil and have said i have a choice of three options 1. New citroen gearbox 3k 2. Aftermarket gearbox 1.2k 3. Have my gearbox stripped to assess damage, labour £250. I am thinking of trying to find a reconditioned one, anyone have any advice on where is C4 Picasso 1.6 HDi 2013 model mk 2 it is auto or semi autoit has a lever on the steering wheel and two paddles + and - on the steering wheel. The lever positions are R, N, A, M. in M you can use the paddles. I moved the car reversed into a space. Then turned it off. When I turned it back on the car started because the lever was in N position. The 2013-2015 'automatic' gearbox was actually an automated manual, with an actuator. Newer models of the engines had full automatic with Adblue The automated manuals had a lot of issues. I'm lucky enough to have unlimited access to a fully equipped workshop where I work with two post ramp, transmission jacks and air tools. To do this you need to remove everything above the gearbox including the battery tray to access the gearbox mount. You also have to remove the whole front subframe from underneath the car and also both Has your dealer had a proper inspection of the car. I think someone is getting confused between ETG6 Gearbox which is a semi automatic which went out of use by Citroen in late 2014 and early 2015 and is Italian, and the EAT6 Gearbox which is a full automatic and is of Japanese origin (Aisin Warner) 7DAEK.
